If a wife earns more than her husband and there is a divorce, is it right for him to demand 'palimony'? What do you thinK? Some husbands ask the courts to issue a ruling that makes it mandatory for the ex-wife to pay an allowance to them every month for the rest of their lives or until they remarry.

I don't think men or women should be entitled to receive alimony after a divorce., and all assets acquired after the marriage was consummated should be split 50/50. The only ones that should be provided well for are the children. Unfortunately it doesn't always work that way and divorce judges and courts can be very biased and unfair.

Well, I think that for persons who were homemakers it would be fair but the allowance should stop once they are gainfully employed.

A lot of people make money under the table after a divorce so to speak and don't report it. And some live off other people and use the poor ex's money for fun. I could go on and on on this subject, but prefer not too, all I can say is I've been there, done that and also seen a lot of other cases where people have been screwed over by divorce courts who don't even care about the reality of the situation or bother to investigate the allegations to find out the real truth, and to add to that Lawyers suck also, don't even get me started on them....

kekei: divided evenly even if the other party found you with your property and in no way contributed to its maintainance
No, community property here is considered by law, any assets that are aquired after the marriage, and are supposed to be divided equally, for instance if we bought a house together after we were married, it could be bought out by one party or the other and 1/2 the market value at the time be paid to the one opting out or if an agreement cannot be reached then it should be put on the market for sale then the proceeds or equity would be divided 50/50, but it doesn't always seem to work that way. Also laws vary from state to state.

ermmm. we don't have divorce here. and i'm not familiar about rules on annulments. Either way, demands should go both ways. But i dont like divorce, and would avoid it if i can.
