kekei: If a wife earns more than her husband and there is a divorce, is it right for him to demand 'palimony'? What do you thinK?
Some husbands ask the courts to issue a ruling that makes it mandatory for the ex-wife to pay an allowance to them every month for the rest of their lives or until they remarry.

I didnt look for alimony when I seperated from my ex, I am fit and healthy and capable of earning a living.I was a stay at home Mother at the time but got a job.

I did ask for maintenance for the children which I did receive until each of the reach 18 or leave full time education.

Laura25: To pay.

For child support

and

support for an ex-spouse who gave up their carrier/employment to be a homemaker. Until they are gainfully and securely employed.

Nothing beyond that.
Exactly what alimony/palimony is for.....Palimony is simply a term placed to explain money payed to a un-married spouse...not necessarily the man...

thumbs up

The term "palimony" does not relate to the male of the species specifically.

Alimony can be payed to the male if the courts find that certain terms are met as Laura pointed out...professor

I feel a prenup is one way I would like to go. I already own my home and some other stuff. And if I was to marry then his money would most likely be used to help with the upkeep of property too. Oh to devil with it. I don't see anyone knocking my door down to get married. doh Good luck to others. peace

Pre Nups arnt worth the paper they are written on in Australia...courts dont even recognise them .... when the setelment time comes everything is split 50/50 regardless of when purchased and by whom, unless there are children involved then its still 50/50 but the non custodial parent has to supply child support...this can either be court ordered or agreed to by both parties.
