Can anyone help me find out how to Divorce my wife in the Uk whilst living in France. I've not seen her in 2.5yrs?
I have asked her to initiate but she ignores me. Meaness NOT love! UK law says you must be reisdent for 6 months. French law says all assets, after marriage split 50/50. She's not getting half my house that I paid for, and she has never lived in. Hany Help gratefully received.

Get yourself a good family low solicitor/lawyer.

And count yourself lucky... in Ireland one has to be separated a full 4 years before even applying for a divorce sigh

By all means be cynical. Lol.

But moving in together and madly in love. I'll ask you to be Best Man? Collect my winnings!

What Odds?

I'm not cynical Dan...just going on your previous posts. And what with you going go through...(what sounds like the start of a cat fight).

So why spoil this relationship with a marriage? It's simplier and cheaper to live together.

Well, when my ex delayed divorce, my friends advised me to just leave, move somewhere and live my own life as if I was already divorced as anyway it was about paper work as de facto we lived separate lives by that time. But I had some feeling that I had to do it properly then and there, as when separated by distance I’d lose even that little influence I had. Looks like that I wouldn’t get it through if I moved and I still would be “married” de jure. Which would be difficult to explain... “Yeah, I live on my own, but I’m still married kind of...” Sounds not that very bright...

To OP: good luck with your plans! (Though I can’t give any advice of value...)

if you married your (present) wife in france then the french laws are valid, if you married in england then you have to divorce under english law. If the divorce is under english law then think yourself lucky otherwise she would legally get more than half of the assets, pensions rights and it doesnt stop there.

I agree with the don't mix French and English law view .. go do it in UK if you can .. think you'll find it much simpler ..
