Does it seem like I'm trying to get a look at the goods before getting involved?

depends on the plans. Is it just the 2 of you or a group day with other friends?
Will there be a bbq or something?
Is it for surfing or other water sports?
If it's just a lets laze in our skivvies type date...
I don't know about that.
Seems a bit to comfortable.
But that's just me.

You are certainly a sharp cookie, LOL!

It could well be too "comfortable" to be comfortable at all. But that depends on the lady. I think offering up several options and seeing what makes her eyes sparkle the most might be the way to go. If she suggests the beach, then go ahead and run with it. If it's your idea, I think it would be smart to make it option C int he multiple choice.
