You've seen Dr.Dolittle do it. Would you? Recently my pet was choking to death and I swear to you if we could not prevent the blockage I was honestly thinking of doing CPR on him. grin

Yup,some of my friends think I would be nuts to do it. One or two said they would try. What about you? How far would you go to save your pet?

Two of my dogs ( A Pit Bull, and an American Bulldog.) got in a fight; one had the other one by the collar, and while my friend, and I tried to pull them apart.... one of them choked to death.

My Pit Bull was dead, his eyes were glazed, the pupils took up the whole iris, my friend was shaking his head.

I put away the dog I had been holding, and then ran to my dead dog.
I pushed my friend out of the way, then I beat on my dogs ribs; after I beat on his ribs, I lifted him up, and put my mouth over my hands, over his mouth, and filled his lungs with air.

Then I put his four feet down, and bounced him up and down; cradling his stomach to pump air into him.
I inflated his mouth a couple more times, and bounced him,
he started staggering, and wobbling, until he came back to life.

He was a breach birth, I pulled him out of the womb by his heels; I wasn't gonna' just let him die.

I wish I'd never have to. I'd be scared I'd make them worse than they are. How on earth can you do a Heinmliech on a pet? confused As for CPR, I'll break the little ribs at a touch scold

It's amazing how easy it is, when you can't possibly make it worse, and you don't care if you break it's ribs.... as long as you know you might not lose it forever.

I hope I won't be put in the situation. I get concerned only when they vomit or cough. I have not even spayed them, for the idea of putting them to sleep and cutting them scares me. moping

I do everything, shots, heart worming, deliver my pups, etc without a vet; except setting bones, surgery, and stitches.

I once duct taped the whole front of a dog's foot on, tendons and all, and pumped it full of penicillin shots for weeks, to keep it alive.

If you consider that each book only has a paragraph, or a chapter on any illness; and, you can read from twenty books in a day... you can know more than some vets on a subject, in one day.

You can learn the side affects of any medications, and alternative homeopathic remedies, how to make butterfly bandages, splints etc, for just about any problem your pet has, in a day.

I came home from work one afternoon. My pug always greets me with exagerated ecitment each time. Well, that day, after I set all my things down, I turned to my little four leg friend and saw him falling off of the chair he had been bouncing up and down on, stiff as a board. He lay on the floor with the look of agony on his face, legs stretched out, then he went limp.

My reaction....CPR ! I pumped on his chest and then I started blowing into his nostrels while holding his mouth closed to get the air into his lungs. He hopped up and gave a big doggy shake.

I immediatly rushed him to the vet. It was a heart attack due to a complication with his blood. He was only fourteen months old. Now he is five and a half years old.

I am glad I had been trained in CPR, it works, even on your pets !

I definitely would do whatever I could to save my cat..she's my baby and she's given me a lot of love. Anyone who thinks you're nuts don't understand the love bond that can exist between people and their pets.
