bodicea: if only it was that easy alberta
It certainly is not easy however, those are the main principals involved. needless to say, it takes a lot of persuasion, political influence, military might and, a whole lot of money and time.
bodicea: one thing that kind of sticks in my side, is which countries ideology is the right way to live by?
Unknown except to say that any ideology that is freely chosen by the people and serves the people of that country is good for them.
bodicea: i have one to add...
america stay out of other countries whom do not want consumerist ideology and exploitative companies there.
Agreed. Now which countries have the people spoken freely and decided to not have America or the west improving their lives?
bodicea: hardline countries need to repeal their tendencies to dominate by force and fear their submissive citizens by giving them more human rights
Absolutely. That is one of the key ways in which the theologies that give rise to terrorism is fought.
kidatheart: I've always like the Canadian policy of being peace keepers, and not invading other countries because they don't follow along.
It is a bit of a sham I am afraid as Canada participated in just about all of the actions the US has made in recent years such as gulf I, II and the Iraq invasion. Our policies of peacekeeping while a Canadian idea are a cheap man's way of maintaining a presence in the world without having to shell out big bucks on weaponry such as carriers, fighters and such. Another way in which we play the big shot is on the backs of our farmers by paying well below par for grain and then giving it away to poorer countries in order to hold some sort of sway internationally. If we had interests and influence then we would certainly need to have a military to protect those interests. As it is, we play rather close to home and when we venture afield, it is usually in conjunction with the US so the need to deal with adversaries is low.
In response to:
bodicea: two words.....SARAH PALIN
jvaski: OMG.....I just got angry and a flat-tire all in the same moment just seeing those two words !
bodicea: she does that to me aswell
She's phenomenal! A disposable entity that just sends the far left into fits of irrationality!
kidatheart: I'd still like to see politicians held accountable for their campaign promises, and actions, or lack thereof, while in office.
No kidding. Right or left they all are full of it. In fact, much as I hated that weasel Cretien, he was a rank amateur compared to the grand master Mullrooney.
