Love herbs Yami, can you suggest a herb I can grow easily on my little terrace bearing in mind the temperature here, very very hot at the moment and most of the year round and little if any rain.

Hi Jan .. Most of my herbs give a low yield if I grow them outside here in UK . Most herbs have arrived here from places famous for their culinary history such as Greece , Mediterranean coast line , India , China and Mid East . There should be no problem growing them at all . You may need to water them two or three times a day and through the base . I sit pots in a shallow dish with a layer of something like crushed stones and fill the dish with water . make sure not to wet the leaves during the day . I populate some herbs with a hard woody stem like Tarragon , Oregano and Mint from the packets supplied at stores or my local grocers . You need some rooting powder , small polythene bags and a few pots .
You can grow Water Cress in mass in anything which can contain water . You need to change the water often . The quality of water for this task has to be as close as possible to a drinking quality . Just buy a fresh packet of water cress and dump it in the water . there are one or two other ways of growing plants successfully . let me know how it is going ..
