this couple on TV are just a normal middle income family....they spend 8 grand a year at least on this...
make-up...heels...hair extentions...the works.... do you think they do this for themselves or do the kids really enjoy it...[/quote}
They definitely do it for themselves, a child loves to dress up and play, that's normal, but these adults are taking things too far I think. It must put these kids under enormous pressure of having to try and please their parents and not let them down... Kids love getting dirty too and just being kids.

my grandma was very good with her sawing machine(i believe its antique now-old hand operated "singer"),she loved to create little girly dresses for me..all frilly and ribbons..i only endured that, because i loved her..when my family moved away,i took charge of my wardrobe, which meant shorts,Tee-s,sweats and very short hair..not all children like to be dolled up..

davpk10: I think if you keep it un wraps it is find....But the problem lays (IMO) as a few will make it impossible for some to compete on an even keel ...so the ones that spend tend to win ....I would think...
And it is the competition that these young children are put under at such a young age is simply not right, just for the sake of looking, in many cases just awful, so unnaturally plastic. It is almost as though they have lost their youth before their time.
Why do parents want to see their children dressed up like that?

Yep. I did that too..
And I grew up alright..
These parents do it for themselves, not the kids in my opinion. They use the excuse that it teaches the kids "competition is healthy"..
Yes, it can be. But encourage them to learn competitive skills on the baseball pitch, or the gymnastics hall, not plastered in make up and hair pieces..

Agreed.
I think it is normal for children to want to dress up, put make up on...wear high heels..but to put a child into a competition based on this screams out wrong!
Some of the outfits these children wear are appalling. And i have to question wtf goes on in a parents head to allow this done publicly?

I also wonder what the motives of those that put these shows in place...
It would seem to be a place for child abusers to congregate to....but I could be bias as I really know little of it all..

children nowadays a deprived of childhood,as it is.. sorry,i really dont understand parents who will push and push their children to fulfill their own ambitions.. children, who have some talants, normally will find it on their own..perfect,if the parents are supportive and encourage their development..

One could imagine that child abusers do take an interest in such, just because there are children involved. That is enough to lure the most unsavory of beings either to the actual show itself, or, just to watch it on TV.
As to the organisers and promoters of such shows there must be alot of money involved in it too. And people love to make money out of just about anything.

It is like saying my child is more talented and beautiful than yours. Almost like the parents themselves had their childhood stripped away from them in some form or another.

Yes money would be a huge attraction I would think...

davpk10: she was found days later in a room off the cellar......the crime is still un-solved....however this is not the subject and would rather it not turn in this direction as many do place thier childern in pagents regularly and I fined it maybe upsetting to them that enjoy it at a healthy level ...
I do recall the family came under suspicsion, not solved thats why I dont recall what happened.

That was my point.
You can fulfil the need for theatre, drama, playing and attention without it costing a penny and without it causing emotional damage.
