AMERICANS AND YET STILL PROUD (100)

somone4u: None in the right mind should condemn any inter nation for action done by few individuals, exactly this is what we are fighting against after the nearly 2 billion Muslims being victimize ,marginalized and destroyed psychologically by the powerful christianist media. However, looking at the context of Americans and the ways they involves on oppressing minorities it’s really appalling; this is the country history told us how they dealt with native Indians, the African Americans, the Mexicans in the last few years and now it seems like it’s the turn for the Muslims.

rytcharlie: OP - I agree it is rediculous to suggest that a valid reason for not publicly burning the Koran is that the followers of Islam will join Al Qaida and become international terrorists. I think a more realistic reason is that the idiot comtemplating the burning is - in his own mind - a representative on God on Earth who, by committing such a disrespectful act, is going against the edicts of the office to which he feels called. My opinion is that he ought to be derobed since he is obviously not intelligent enough to understand the basic premis of his vocation. Having said this, it might be good to keep things in context. I don't believe all Americans are disrespectful of culture and beliefs. And the vast majority can feel rightly proud for being ordinary folk just trying to get on with their day to day life as best as possible - just like those in every other nation on Earth. now if you will all please stand and sing hymn 394:

Shall We Gather At The River?rolling on the floor laughing

I read the thread title as meaning that in your opinion no American has the right to feel proud of his/her country .. but I now see that is obviously not what you mean .. given you state that no one in their right mind would suggest such a thing.

I agree .. I'd much rather see the Press and the few individuals you speak about propounding acceptance and understanding. In the words of the late great John Lennon, let's imagine there are no personal differences - no religions or countries ..

One of the few things makes me admire you is the slowness of your brains. You always have to answer twice or thrice on one article and give the same message. Seems like it take a time for your processor to contemplate what you have to say. laugh

..
Two things: A- the title of the thread does not tell you what you understood; it’s a big different what you understood and what i meant. I did NOT said “all American and yet proud”.

B- The music you had mentioned to me is just another brick in the wall. He also victimizes the Muslims. Right from the beginning of the song it showed a western-dress man with a Muslim-dress woman. And up to the end the singer never touched other faith.

Before 911 -and- other terrorist attacks, most US citizens had been very liberal concerning different religions, even in the bible belt. And they still are.
Nearly all terrorist attacks, specially that on 911 have been executed by muslim terrorists in the name their religion and the holy war, so don´t complain if some people get sensibilized.

somone4u:

Leave alone that the high percentage of possibility which is clear up there that even this 9/11 thing could be done by someone else. Ten years after that evil, inhuman and cruel action is done in America but we still only get information from the unofficial media. We didn’t hear something concrete yet. so you can start your reading from a document on wikileaks title “the morning of 9/11.”

heinzketchup: Well that is exact what happens, headline events like the children killer in Belgium some years ago will stay in peoples mind - or same with the lot of crimes against children, committed by pedophiliac catholic priests in Ireland, Austria and Germany. People will keep that in mind for a long time, too. All innocent priest lost a part of their confidence. This happens in human
subconscious, you will never change this.

I think that it’s not that much head lines that people remember, but attempts of Catholic church (in many countries very powerful institution) to cover the crime instead of condemning it. That’s what is upsetting and disgusting. It’s Mafia-like behavior.

The same with Islam – it’s leaders try to make martyrs and heroes of terrorists. And that’s what upsets people.

Well, catholic church always was mafia-like, remembering the holy war & crusades, later the inquisition or the famous burning of witches events and and and....
I grew up in a very catholic area in Europe, it was forbidden to play with protestant children, people with other religions were classified as unbeliever, heathen and 2nd class humans until they converted.
So we can be happy that the church lost a lot of influence - and church & government are 2 different things now.
