birthday gift advice (16)

It's the big 40 for an old friend soon and I'm wondering if I'm on the right track gift wise.
The shortlist

A sea fishing trip
Special edition of his fave single malt
Tickets for Glastonbury (if I get them roll eyes )
Book a cottage and stock the fridge for a boozy boys weekend with his mates (afraid this could go wrong and it be left in a state)

any other ideas?
Have a week to decide before Glasto tickets go on sale.

Mondello still do racing car lessons as far as I know. Friend of mine got them for her brother a couple of years ago. He's still going on about how great it was.

Glasto is oversubscribed many times so the chances are slim also you have to send photo id to get tickets - to prevent touts.

Kevin in Spiddal has a good reputation regarding sea fishing. Mail me if you want his number

Must be a really good friend laugh

sea fishing is great fun .. haven't done it for a couple of years but must organise again ... only available at certain times of the year, though, weather dependant?? Should be still OK at the mo???

Theres always a financial consideration to a suggestion and heres some ideas..

1..Long time ago some friends took another lad over to France on the ferry ...got him hammered and then when he was passed out brought him into germany and booked him into a B&b in a pub...They took his passport and money and caught the early flight back home leaving him behind .....that was funny

2. concerts are good but the thought of standing in a field with so many others would not appeal to many men in their 40`s but a ticket to Il Divo might be more the case ..(since you mentioned he was a chef and more refined comes to mind )

3 Every Man worth his Load will always like a weekend away to Amsterdam grin with spending money of course devil

4 ...Fishing in a Boat ...Yeh that sounds good but ask the skipper to keep showing the Jaws clip where it attacks the boat and eats one of the sailors....he ll always remember that

best of luck in what ever you decide and as ive stated somewhere else i always regret not going to a MediEvil knight for my 40th with Jousting and ...well the cable guy film does it better (explaining)

thanks guys - I think I am going to try and get the Glasto tickets first, decided that if I'm going to shell out the cash then I should go too laugh
Failing that then a sea fishing trip - either Galway or maybe Donegal and a good piss up afterwards, I can get a house rental cheap so he can bring a couple of mates (if they finance themselves)
He's been a pal for nearly 20 years - omg did not realise it's been so long and he's having a hard time at the minute workwise, and you're only 40 once .

Yay! Glasto wins out! It'll be a super 40th for him no doubt if your headed on that road! Its the most fantastic experience, even if your not into any of the mainline acts - you still have way too many options of things to do! So an excellent choice! Wont be regretted in the least! Your a fab friend there girly and he's lucky to have you!
