scottyburd: Roddy Doyle's The Snapper..Brilliant comedy..
Doyle's a brilliant author and one of my favourites.
I don't think I have a favourite book - just as I don't have a favourite piece of music - though there are many I admire and some that have opened my eyes, entertained and inspired me.
I have waaaaay to many to narrow it down to one sooo maybe the latest. I recently read "Love in the time of cholera" It killed me it was soooo good. But a constant companion in my library has always been "The good earth" by Pearl S Buck...Im a mad reader myself

I'm only reading in my bathtub
but you think, "Love in the time of cholera" could be a book, who keeps me back in the bathtub until I've to change the water again as it got cold? that of my one glas of wine I use to drink beside, could get the whole bottle? the water will get cold again but I wont realize it anymore as I got so caught in that story? and I will only stop reading, as the candles burned down and I cannot see anymore???
actually it sounds good to me too
I think you could Love "The Whitest Flower" of Brandan Graham
hem23: A Moveable Feast - Ernest Hemingway Probably the best collection of short stories, brilliant I give it 5 out of 5 stars
"Across the river and into the trees" is a book I adored - rught up there with Jane Eyre as a quality romantic novel. A real surprise from Hemingway.
I wanted to sit in Harry's Bar in Venice and have a drink, just because of it and to soak some of it. Sadly the bar is small and was overloaded with mountains of garish Crimplene from a cruise ship and my then g/f wouldn't indulge me....
