I would like to see the details of this story before I cast an opinion. However, despite popular belief, her perceived wealth actually belongs to the Commonwealth, not her, or the family as such.

How much money are you giving back so she can continue to live a lifestyle to which we would all like to become accustomed?.
I got overpaid? You might not be aware old son that servicemen are one of the lowest paid members of the public. A Private earns 17,000 pounds. A garbage collector driving the truck earns around the same.
Unlike many, we weren't paid for a 9-5 job, we were on duty and on call 24/7.
How much am I giving back? Whatever they decide to take in taxes.
I realize the queen is rich but in some ways I feel sorry for the lady because she will be working untill she dies..Most commoners get to retire by 67..Unless Im wrong I dont think she can, can she?

Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle, two of the most popular state-owned tourist attractions in the country, require at least £20 million to be spent on new roofs and updated heating systems.
The Queen, who is renowned for being thrifty in her personal expenditure, has averted a cash crisis within the Royal Household.
Buckingham Palace has amassed a £25 million reserve on the Civil List, negotiated every 10 years with the government, to pay the running costs of the monarchy, such as staff and heating.
This year the Civil List is £12.7 million, up £500,000 on last year. The £25 million reserve will cocoon Buckingham Palace's finances until the next Civil List begins in 2011.

She can abdicate when she wants to and many feel that she would have done had Charles and Di divorced.

Yes they do bring a lot of money in to the country with tourism and I believe that Buckingham Palace is the most visited place of them all.
I did find that a lot of Americans enjoyed our Royals and I found many knew more about our history than I did! That said, I knew more of the history of the American Natives than they did...so it's all cross pollenation sort of thing!
