I was at a birthday party in my daughters house a week last saturday and was playing with her partner's nephew Jack who just turned 3. His mam last saturday noticed something wrong with his eye and brought him into hospital, the doctor asked he be brought back in on Monday so they could sedate him to have a proper look. Yesterday she found out he has cancer in his eye and has to have it removed, his other eye has small growths but they can be lasered, then he will start chemo on thursday for 12 weeks. Now Jack also has a baby brother called Cian who is 6 months old so he was tested today and also found to have the same cancer as Jack!!!So both brothers are going to Crumlin Hosp on thursday to start chemo together.....I just left their house about an hour ago and Jack is in great form delighted so many people called, he thinks its a party. He doesnt understand what is ahead of him.
So say a prayer for all his family that they pull thru this tough time.....and please be thankful of what you have...teddybear

Jaysus, it's heartbreaking. I'll say a prayer for them both and their family. Omg, it doesn't bear thinking about, does it.

The only posisitve thing I can say is that kids are pretty resiliant and adapt well to circumstances that are extremely difficult for the adults to bear. Little consolation but true nontheless.

In Crumlin there are many children who I'd class as hero's.

I hope things work out wellwith the chemo. God bless them.

It was said to me when things were bad in my life and they made it through. They're much stronger than me.

In that case-

Grainne and Derek: Best of luck with this difficult and upsetting situation. You can take comfort that you did everything you could and have averted a much worse outcome in detecting it early.

Your boys are braver and stronger than you will ever know or give them credit for. They need you to be strong for them and to let them know that it isn't the end of the world difficult as that may seem to you as a parent to watch a child go through this.

I won't sugar coat it, the road will be hard at times but rest assured it WILL get better.

You just have to keep the faith. Faith in yourself, faith in your little boys and faith in the professionals.

Our thoughts are with you.
