Does anyone know if I can bring a checked bag andan unchecked bag on an Aerlingus flight? I was going to check in both (long story) but it's €24 return for each bag and the allowance is still capped at 20kgs .... so can I check one bag, bring one on of less than 10kgs AND also have a handbag The whole baggage allowance thing has me so confused these days

I did... or just jam it into the smaller carry-on bag for the gate and remove it before you sit down

That's what I'm worried about ..... and knowing my luck I will be targeted in any crackdown! I had to go through the bodyscanner in Heathrow during the summer ...."randomly" picked!!! I'm always randomly picked for the bad stuff

I haven't flown Ryanair for 13 years .... deliberately! I'm still waiting for them to bring in that charge if you go over a certain body weight

Not sure about Aerlingus but I know Ryanair are very fussy about it. You are allowed one piece of handluggage to go on with you and thats it. I had a small cross over bag under my jacket but I did see them making women put their handbags into the cases and once you get on board take it out of your case.

What annoys me is that if do check the two bags in I am still capped at 20kgs ....
You can pre-purchase additional weight in increments of 3kgs but it costs a fortune

They did actually say they were going to do it a while ago .... I think it was 14 stone for a woman and 17 stone for a man ... and if you went over that you would have to pay!!!!
