Yes because it will threaten the eurozone. They will have to absorb some of our debt! THIS IS SERIOUS!

The country debt has to be seperated from the bank debt. 100 Billion is just working capital. Ireland has the power at this moment to threatewn the whole eurozone and someone with balls could negotiate a much better deal. As it stands, the ECB will want around 6.5% interest....12 billion per anum on 353 Billion borrowed.....makes the 6 billion budget savings laughable and we haven't touched the capital.

Ireland can force that rate down to 3% on 180 billion so less than 3 billion in interest so the other 3 billion saved repays some capital but we need an immediate general election. This government has no credibility on the world stage.

It makes no difference what government is in, the ECB are looking to that government to imlpement tough measures. Cowen will welcome a general election as it lets his government off the hook.

The ECB are running scared here! FF have no one with the balls to threaten them! That's why we need someone who won't put up with this. Cowen and Lenihan are agreeing to everything the ECB is throwing at them. Already the Portugese and Spanish bond markets are suffering!conversing
