It has happened to me,more then once.I now just meet for coffee or tea so i can make a quick departure if their not who they say they are.
If they don't love their self enough to be truthful about their looks,how can they love someone else.

I had two dates where the camera had been more than kind to they guys. Well, I'm not too hung up on looks, so I had a pleasant time, and was fed and watered well for free. No problem.
