bababoboo: would you have laser eye sergery ? or do you think its dangerous ???
I've worn glasses since I was 11 yrs old. I'm afraid of anyone poking around with my eyes even though I know that eventually the docs will have to in time. I found out that I have cataracts. The docs cannot do Lasik surgery with cataracts in place. When cataracts are removed, then they do some kind of corrective surgery with the lens implant too. Sometimes you only need the glasses for reading after that. Right now, I wear a lined trifocal lens for close up, intermediate and long distance.
BTW, I think guys are pretty good looking with the right glasses for their face. Actually, I think they enhance a person's appearance, not detract. If you know that you are of good quality and a good catch, don't worry about a girl who isn't lookin at you because of your glasses. She's shallow. Eventually, she too will be wearing glasses. We all get older but what's in your heart and soul is what is going to be the most attractive when it comes to someone looking for real perfection.
So overall, don't let anyone poke around with your eyes until you really need to have them worked on in life. If there is one screw up mistake, you are visually impaired much more in life than you are right now. I wouldn't take that chance for vanity. Wear the glasses. JMHO.

I had it done 25 years ago AND it was the best money I EVER spent... Have never had anything done to them since and my vision is still great. I play a lot of pool and snooker and was sooo much easier not wearing glasses or contact lenses (because back in those days you were allowed to smoke at the tournaments and in the clubs which irritated the lens). DO it!
Research and investigate. See a few doctors and get consultations and referrals to former patients. I've known people who've had great results, but also many who've had issues with night time driving (they can't see well) and also one lady I know had her vision become worse. They tried to correct her vision again, but it didn't help. She wasn't refunded any money (she spent over $5000) and now she's back to wearing glasses which she also had to pay for. She totally regrets having it done. Now not every case is going to be like that, but I guess the question is whether you are willing to take the risk.
Personally for myself, having worn glasses since the age of 12-13 and being unsuccessful in wearing contact lenses, I'm holding on to whatever sight I still have and not taking the risk. While I don't exactly love them, I'm used to them and am thankful that I can still see.
Just had this procedure done in lisbon a month ago, the first eye was no problem but a week later the same doctor messed up the procedure, resulted in my having to go to another eye surgeon for advice, he then told me that the first doctor had broken the blood vessels behind the eye due to using too much pressue.
There were also issues regarding cost, the cheapest was in Turkey or India, london was average and then Lisbon reasonable but not cheap ,especially when I had to pay another Doctor to fix the problems of the first operation.
The benefits of having the surgery outweigh the potential problems, I will need glasses for driving but for computer work I now will not need them.
Yes thanks Jac As Jac has said i have just had it done ( Nov 22nd ). It went absolutely brilliant. Yesterday i went back for my third post op review & have much better than 20/20 vision apparently I had the most expensive of 3 available treatments ( £3000 ) but can honestly say it has been worth every penny. The actual laser treatment took 22 seconds per eye. I was lying on the bed about 10 mins in total whilst eyelids were tinkered with - no pain there though. I started getting moderate pain about 2 hours after the surgery so went to bed for about 2 hours . After waking up all the pain had gone never to return . For the first week after surgery you need to take eye drops up to 16 times per day ( 3 or 4 different types & they are supplied ). This is a bit of a pain in the neck depending where you are & what you are doing but it's only for one week so worth putting up with in my opinion.
