Ask Darren, he's just had it done.

I'll send the link for this thread to him.

I know a lot of people that have had it and are pleased with the results.
How ever a few have problems driving at night after laser surgery, these were older friends, not sure if age had any thing to do with it.

My younger brother had laser corrective eye surgury, and he still thinks that it was one of the best decisions he ever made ! He now only needs glasses for reading ( old age creeping up ). Needless to say that it was compleatly sucsessful . If you are thinking about it check the credability of the person doing it . The sucsess will be directly proporional to the skill of the eye surgon . I hope this helps you .

No I wouldn't have it done.

Both my parents and my aunt had it done in their 70s, with little corrective effect, and my sister in law had to have it done to correct an eye problem, (torn retina), and has had halo effect with night vision to the extent she can't drive now at night.wine

One thing they did not tell me when I had mine done was that my vision was going to be reversed after the surgery.
I could see great detail close-up and couldn't read anything past 10 inches from my nose.
Now I cannot see anything close up and have to hold a book at waist level to see the lettering.
I actually do miss the close up vision. Especially when my face is only inches away from what I'm working on and there is no room to move away from it and doing photography to see the dials on the camera.
On the other hand I can buy a nice pair of sunglasses now and not limited to prescription frames. applause
However, at dusk when the sun is going down so is my vision. For example, I cannot read a street sign sitting in a car at an intersection. In any low light situation my vision drops off.
That is annoying! I recently went to get glasses for night time driving. A mild prescription compared to my old glasses.
In bright sunlight it is okay.
I had my operation right at the age limit for getting it done.
At 31 you should be fine regarding that.
There are now a lot of quickie doctors offices offering the surgery on every street corner.
Go to a doctor who is going to do all the testing to qualify you eligible for getting it done. Don't screw around with some guy who got their training as an after-thought to make some more money.

I went to Calgary, Canada where Dr. Gimbal has his office...office?
He's got a 5 story building and a whole floor dedicated to laser surgery and a day and a half of testing before the surgery.

Yes, I´ve read many stories about the negative aspects of surgery such as this. The future ramifications of laser eye surgery is also under hot debate.

I´m very interested in this as I´ve had to wear glasses since I was a very young child, although I wear soft contact lenses now most of the time, but I really don´t think I want my eyes messed about with regardless of the perceived benefits. I also quite like my trendy glasses now, unlike when I was a child, even though I rarely wear them in public.

Was it worth it? YES! For me anyway, other people have valid objections to it.
