iamwhoiamyousee: To all who gave up smoking within the last year I guess
Q: Like with any drug there are withdrawl symtoms who expirienced emotional symtoms and what kind after quitting smoking ciggaretts ??please leave comment ..will check back now and then
I gave up smoking 2 weeks ago and I am doing okay on nicotine replacement patches. I still found though that I was quite irritable and a little anxious too (probably the patches) but that has settled down.
The main side effect is a nagging feeling that something is missing lol. Basically, you have to find other things to do with all time you have now that you don't smoke.

tomboygirl: I looked it up,as I understand it;When you take a puff, adrenalin is released in the body, which also releases stored sugar ready to aid fight or flight,so your body is used to many many hits of sugar a day. This is also why you don't get hungry,or crave sugar much,as when you smoke you can get an instant hit. Unfortunately, when you don't use this adrenalin released sugar it is restored on your arteries as cholesterol. This is a very rough explanation..
I am also quite curious as to the link between sugar and smoking addiction,as I find I am more likely to start smoking again, when I have been eating a lot of sugar and none is available.
Aaaaaahhh! THAT's why I've been having sugar cravings. Thank you!
jeepers: By the way....acid these days isn't what it used to be.
I never had acid or hard drugs bt yeah did some grass and still can smell and pick the best if shown the tray full of different kinds....!bt have no plans to quit as such smoking...tried four times for a month or so but whenever there is a crisis..and always is whenever I decide to quit I simply run to the shop and end up buying a pack...

Well....stop going to the store to buy a pack ! If you don't have them, you can't smoke them.

I can stay off the cigs for months, can finally manage in a crisis,(by congratulating myself for staying off cigs, and making staying quit a priority over whatever the crisis is).I don't even crave a cig at home anymore. Unfortunately every time I go out for a drink or date almost everyone seems to smoke still, and sooner or later stealing a relaxing social drag or two from a friend, after a beer or three is my downfall..
I think this is my last hurdle to beat,to stay quit..

I have tried on several occasions with no luck. In most cases it was stress that drove me back to them.
For a while in NC, I was smoking cigars which were cheaper and I was smoking less than when with cigarettes. When I came back to NH, cigarettes were cheaper than cigars
One of my bosses was asking me about the electronic cigarettes which I never considered using. He has a sister that works at a nursing home where they use them and he said he will look into it and maybe buy one for me. Supposedly you can dial the amount of nicotine and eventually quit. If he does, I may try it
