Cugglycorkonian: I worked as a community development officer trying to enable those in the community who were disadvantaged (eg gov gave out free travel pass but put no buses in place) ... that seems like a million years ago. i am a secretary now and got a whole SIX HOURS for the month of January??!! my plan is go to dublin for 3 months if i dont pick something up there come back to cork do a tefl course and go to hongkong.... i wanna clear debt first only a small bit to go now tho so happy days
Thing's aren't as good on the job-scene in the TEFL industry as they once were. Student numbers are dropping in all countries in this region anyway. This financial crisis is closing restaurants, bars and clubs.
I've been in the region since '92 and it is beginning to bite big time.I've never seen it like this. I'm down to six hours teaching a week. Luckily I have a whack of money coming in the next two weeks and I'll be able to ride out the bad times.
You will find work in H K, just not as well paid as before.
I hear the money is good in Korea. Don't get hired online. The package seems good but then you find out how much other teachers are making and will be disappointed.
Good luck.
