and are then totally incapable of holding a 2 way conversation? Even allowing for predictive text and lack of punctuation - I am tired of sending replies only to get a one liner in return. So I try again and by the 3rd message I wonder why I'm bothering. You can't hold a conversation on your own - yet they expect a reply ...
but generally ignore any questions you might have asked. dunno
Do they just want to see that little box go red?

I just don't bother even starting to get into mailing over and back. If someone isn't going to make an effort, don't see why I should reply, just because they said, 'hi, how are you'. If I was to mail someone, I'd take time to think about what I'm mailing them, make it personal and give them something to go on.

Ladies, ye gotta realise sending the initial mail is quite hard. There are fairly limited options such as

1. Something funny - potential of looking like a spa
2. Ask a question about their profile - boring and unimaginative
3. Something about themselves - arrogant and self centred
4. Something about the world/life - again, potential to look like a spa
5. Compliments - something a woman always loves but on a site like this, boring and unimaginative

So many guys settle with simple "hi, how are you" mails.

Personally I take the risk and go for one of the above depending on what sense I get from a girls profile.

In retrospect, I don't know if I have ever got a mail from a girl that hasn't been either "hi how are you" or "I really like your profile"
