I met a gentleman from S. Africa in the Netherlands airport while delayed overnight, he wasn't only one I met but he and the rest were great company.Still communicate with him, and the others.

The only think I know is positive. I have a friend or 2 from there and I hope one day to visit. I think they are trying very hard to overcome their past and just from what I understand it is a very friendly country
Everything I do know comes from another party, so I am not sure how much this helps, but here it is nevertheless

They're people.
Some are rude, some are delightful.
The ones I know personally are lovely.
If I could make any generalisations at all its that they seem to be very confident.
They're also strangely nonchalant about societal violence and have seen some dreadful things back in their homeland. They seem to accept murders and home invasions as a fact of life, no more, no less, and they all seem to know a neighbour or work colleague in SA who was murdered.

Thanks for all the comments so far.The people are great,some rude some nice,pretty women,lots of poverty,some very rich,great weather,crime is hectic but I guess every country has got its troubles.
