I'm still waiting for somebody to post a factual link that shows that Fox has been banned in Canada much less anybody to show how Fox lies in their news broadcasts to any degree more than any other media outlet.

Anybody?
Anybody at all?
This is all about the Wisconsin protest. FOX went into and interviewed the protestors that had taken control of the capitol building.
When the protestors mentality was discovered....or thier lack of facts and details on Unions in America. They began to rants at the FOX reporter....'liar, liar, liar'...in a shout out. Very well mannered these protestors are.
Soon the protestors were out at the FOX network in NYC. Saying the same thing. Not very original, mind you. When again ask to show one lie that the FOX had made.
The protestor leader..said 'the Iraq war'. To which the FOX reporter asked ...well what lie about the Iraq war did FOX say? The protest leaders....says...'you know the entire Iraq war'. Like I said the mentality thingee.
To which the group of liar liar liar protestors come into a shout out of the reporter and his q and a of the leader.
I have come to the conclusion. That when liberal protest leaders get into Q and A difficulties in the US.....they have a sign they flash to the followers for the liar liar lair chant. It might be like a the long nose sign of pinchocco..often is used in American baseball...to signal the hidden ball trick....that never works.
So this FOX bash thread is a support thread to the Wisconsin protest........
"As America's middle class battles for its survival on the Wisconsin barricades - against various Koch Oil surrogates and the corporate toadies at Fox News - fans of enlightenment, democracy and justice can take comfort from a significant victory north of the Wisconsin border. Fox News will not be moving into Canada after all! The reason: Canadian regulators announced last week they would reject efforts by Canada's right-wing Prime Minister, Stephen Harper, to repeal a law that forbids lying on broadcast news.
Canada's Radio Act requires that "a licenser may not broadcast ... any false or misleading news." The provision has kept Fox News and right-wing talk radio out of Canada and helped make Canada a model for liberal democracy and freedom. As a result of that law, Canadians enjoy high quality news coverage, including the kind of foreign affairs and investigative journalism that flourished in this country before Ronald Reagan abolished the "Fairness Doctrine" in 1987."

Political dialogue in Canada is marked by civility, modesty, honesty, collegiality, and idealism that have pretty much disappeared on the US airwaves. When Stephen Harper moved to abolish the anti-lying provision of the Radio Act, Canadians rose up to oppose him fearing that their tradition of honest non-partisan news would be replaced by the toxic, overtly partisan, biased and dishonest news coverage familiar to American citizens who listen to Fox News and talk radio. Harper's proposal was timed to facilitate the launch of a new right-wing network, "Sun TV News" which Canadians call "Fox News North."
Harper, often referred to as "George W. Bush's Mini Me," is known for having mounted a Bush-like war on government scientists, data collectors, transparency, and enlightenment in general. He is a wizard of all the familiar tools of demagoguery; false patriotism, bigotry, fear, selfishness and belligerent religiosity.
Harper's attempts to make lying legal on Canadian television are a stark admission that right-wing political ideology can only dominate national debate through dishonest propaganda. Since corporate profit-taking is not an attractive vessel for populism, a political party or broadcast network that makes itself the tool of corporate and financial elites must lie to make its agenda popular with the public.
In the Unites States, Fox News and talk radio, the sock puppets of billionaires and corporate robber barons, have become the masters of propaganda and distortion on the public airwaves. Fox News' notoriously biased and dishonest coverage of the Wisconsin's protests is a prime example of the brand of news coverage Canada has smartly avoided.

Sparky55: Exactly. I think most people are able to figure things out for themselves. The schools, even in the US teach people to think for themselves.
Would be a great thing, especially if the governments would do some more serious effort therefore, likewise some few European countries did with quite good success. But I really doubt about that "even in the US teach people to think for themselves". Maybe some other "institutions" make them believe that “they think for themselves”.
Canadian regulators announced last week they would reject efforts by Canada's right-wing Prime Minister, Stephen Harper, to repeal a law that forbids lying on broadcast news.
Why would the Prime Minister want to repeal the bill then?
Seems a fair bill to me.... are you saying you prefer lies on broadcast news?

Two things;
Fox news is already in Canada and has been for years. i The only exception is for subscribers of Videotronn Quebec which doesn't offer it as part of their package but, amusingly engouh, their parent company is the ones who provide Fox to the rest of Canada.
Second, repeal what bill?
Fox's right to broadcast is already enshrined in our version of the “fairness doctrine” - the Canadian Broadcasting Act.
""Section 3(1) (i) (iv) mandates that broadcasters,
“provide a reasonable opportunity for the public to be exposed to the expression of differing views on matters of public concern”
while Section 3(1)(d) states that
“the Canadian broadcasting system should
(i) serve to safeguard, enrich and strengthen the cultural, political, social and economic fabric of Canada…
(iii) through its programming… serve the needs and interests, and reflect the circumstance and aspirations, of Canadian men, women and children, including equal rights, the linguistic duality and multicultural and multiracial nature of Canadian society and the special place of aboriginal peoples within that society…""

JeanMarlow: I would venture to guess you don't know what you are talking about. What is your position here, that because someone lives in India they are ignorant, uneducated and stupid and cannot tell news from propaganda? How arrogant of you. As well, it points out your own ignorance about other countries and peoples.
Touche'... I'd probably question if you know the difference.
