Ken35: the most commonsense post so far on this thread, i've been able to renegotiate my monthly rent, i shop in aldi, lidl, 2euro shops, i haggle when i buy clothes or back to school stuff for my son. Your right it is immoral and lazy that someone can turn down a job for 28k, i also believe that anyone who turns down 2 job offers should have their kids placed into foster care and they should have their dole stopped, if they turn down 1 job offer cut their dole by 50%. Its radical and quite effective. There are thousands of unemployed people who are willing to try their hand at any type of work even if it means they are better off not working. Its the way i was brought up not to turn down a job under any circumstances.

Funny Im sure Ive read this exact quote on a diff thread of yours.. Hope the weather stays fine for you and you dont fall off your moral high horse.Anybody that has had to live off very little money and scrape by ,barely putting food on the table either by being in a low paid job or on social payments would have alot more sympathy for others. Its always similar threads from yourself makes me wonder have you a chip on your shoulder JMO

putting kids into foster care would cost a fortune, if your trying to save money that would not be a good start

Ken35: I'm not attacking the unemployed most of who would take any type of work in this country available at the moment, the An Bord snip report from 2009 detailed the generous welfare benefits that are available in Ireland. Also I have a question why don't people just emigrate if they've suddenly lost their job, I know I'd certainly get out of Ireland.

A lot of people have lives here in Ireland that they don't want to leave. They might have family, parents, friends that they would miss. As it is, a lot of young people are leaving Ireland but there is a limit to the jobs available in other countries as well. After all, this recession is worldwide.
