I've no problem with well skilled emigrants but I believe lower paid jobs should be left for Irish people. Sadly our political establishment is so pro immigration its ridicoulous.

I have to take ur side on this cos i have worked with a lot of irish men & women and they can be lazy and never want to do the simplest thing which is annoying...I have worked all over britain and ireland and cos of my flexibility i am always in a job....
A lot of foreigners work twice as hard as any irish bloke.
What gets me is when they say "oh all these foreigners have come to take our jobs" meanwhile they are not qualified enough for the job..Irish women are more educated than the men and only in the last 6/7yrs have irish men started educating themselves...
A lot of favouritism went on unquestioned just to have an irish guy at the workplace...And that's a fact..

Ur wrong on that as well Ken, an establishment will hire the best even if that person is a foreigner, i mean in england anyway....
Here they hire an irishman whos's not even qualified to do the job and has to be trained by a contractor....Lets face the real world man.....

Well may be you should read it correctly next time. I dont know where you got the idea that the "majority" of Irish people would turn down a 28k job. And the people who turned down the job wernt even Irish so get your facts straight before going on a rant about our country.

I think she got the idea from the other posts and the fact that people were saying it's ok to turn down a 28k job because of various excuses

Well there is something wrong if the situation is that someone makes more on benefits than working. And that needs to be looked at and solved. Cos i dont want my taxes supporting people who can find work but couldnt be bothered cos they make more sitting at home on their arses.

Ken35: I saw an article in the Irish Independent where an employer said that 2 people turned down a job for €28k because there better off not working. Surely this is a shocking indictment of Ireland's extremely generous welfare state.

I mentioned it to my father and he told me that not so long people would have tried their hand at any job, its also shocking that FG and Labour aren;t going to reduce social welfare benefits according to their programme for government.

god i wouldnt turn down that job in times like this we cant be fussy and take what job we can get
