When I was very young, I was in awe of Bobby Charlton and for many years he was my hero.....then one wonderful day I met him. By now I was an adult. What should I say...'Oh Bobby I have always worshipped you' 'Bobby it's me at long last'....etc etc etc? In the end I just pushed a programme into his hand and asked him to sign it...He didn't even look at me and I realised that he couldn't give a toss about me despite my hero worship. I felt low for weeks afterwards.

Have you ever met a childhood hero and been disappointed?

I was never awe struck by anyone. Yes, I did have the usual crushes on boy bands/singers but that's it.

However, I have been shocked by things about famous personalities in the past.

I couldn't believe it when I heard that Rock Hudson was gay. I didn't know how Doris Day would take it!!!!dunno

Mind you, I think I might have been the last to know!!doh
