EssJay: My grandson(17yrs) rang me just over an hour ago to say that he and his friend(16) were riding their scooters (the micro type)when a group of 13 lads attacked them. Both these boys have sustained injuries to their faces and my grandsons friend also has a chipped tooth after being kicked in the face.The gang of lads stole the scooters worth approximately £150 each, as both boys had extras,new wheels etc.
They rang the police and were told that NO-ONEcould attend them until after 6pm, thats almost 2hrs after the event, even longer if they don't turn up on time....beggers belief dosen't it......

I'm not surprised....I'm sorry for you grandson...But i've a feeling others are going to post similar types of stories...
I hope he gets justice...

My dad had a similair experience many years ago....someone broke in to his car when he was fishing.....it was found a few days later smashed to bits!
Sorry to hear that ESS JAY they are scum the police take a long time to investigate wher Kids are concerned going through it with My eldest at the moment, he was thumped by another childs father ON THE SCHOOL PREMISES and the man is only going to be questioned tomorrow. The incident happend on Tuesday 22 March, and he has frieghend my yougest since then as well. Withe the ConDem cuts its going to get worse and the police resources will be straiend and they do a great job as a whole.

Sorry to hear about your son TC.....that man is old enough to know better,it does raise the question of how he is with his own child though.....a worrying thought.

WEll sorry but generally speaking have to disagree with you on that. I know for sure and certain if there is a gang or shooting the police are told to hang back! So you may be under a slight misapprehension on them as a whole.
I know its this way in Brum anyway, cannot say for your area.

UPDATE.......
The police are charging one of the lads for assault and another of the lads for theft. Both scooters have been recovered,but they have been damaged.....it remains to be seen now whether the CPS(Crown Prosecution Service) think there is enough evidence for this to go to court.....if not then those lads will get away with a slap on the wrist.
In the meantime my grandson's friend will be receiving dental treatment for his chipped tooth.

Similar thing happened to two of my sons mates when they were about 17 or 18. Thankfully it never happened to my son but I used to pay him taxis everywhere anyway, then I paid him driving lessons when he was 17 and he got a car soon after. Mind you, even driving everywhere isn't mug proof. One of my friends was mugged in a multi storey carpark in city centre at 6pm. Nicked her jewellery and broke her nose.
