Ok, my son (15) brought a stink bomb into school last week and another lad let it off..

He has been given 2 days suspension for the CRIME!!

Personally i think the punishment is too harsh/OTT.

I would like to hear peoples opinions on this dunno

I would also like to add that my son apologised and asked not to be suspended,he said he would do ANY other punishment but to please not suspend him..

i suggested to the principal that he write lines,hoovering/mopping in break in front of his friends, saturday detention...no good,it had been decided by the year heads that suspension was to be the punishment.

That takes me back a few years. . .one or two of the lads let off tear gas. .we were all made sit in it for around half of the day till they owned up . .if memory serves me right they got a couple of days off too! Then a queue over to the GP to be checked out. laugh

rolling on the floor laughing big difference between tear gas and a stink bomb laugh

He owned up and accepted the blame as to being the one that brought it into school...

I dont think he would be as quick to own up again laugh

I agree that was very harsh for such a small thing & as you say boys will be boys. That said i firmly believe corporal punishment should return to schools for those who really deserve it ( not your son ). The cane & the slipper i receieved at school did me no harm thumbs up

He has two days off school, whats the harm?? dunno

If it really bothers you then tell the principle your taking the matter to the board of education, i was suspended loads of times for smoking, going on the hop, vandalism and fighting, and that was only the things they caught me doinggrin

Have to disgree love. Firmly believe if kids were given better discipline at school they would grow up to be better adults & show more respect to their elders.

Its only 2 days nothing to worry about really, I did things like that myself but I was never caught, The teachers thought there was a sewage problem but it was us breaking them in the corridorlaugh
We also let off fireworks 1 lunch break and we were all interrogated by the principal but nothing happened he let us off with it,
another time in college we decided to play a prank on 1 of our mates, he said he was going to the toilet so when he was in doing whatever he was we got the firehose and tried to soak him but we couldnt reach up to the gap between the ceiling and the toilet wall so 1 of the lads stood on a toilet cistern as a boost, well the cistern broke and the place flooded, the water seeped down into rooms below and caused thousands of euros worth of damage, we concocted a story saying the guy who stood on the cistern was actually going for a dump when he slipped on the floor because it was wet and as he fell his elbow caught off the cistern and it broke, it worked too, no action was taken over itlaugh
