darren9030: Yes, but i would also like to think they wouldn't step out of line enough to be punished

mcattack: He has two days off school, whats the harm??

If it really bothers you then tell the principle your taking the matter to the board of education, i was suspended loads of times for smoking, going on the hop, vandalism and fighting, and that was only the things they caught me doing

No harm as such but the point im making is the reason he is off,i dont believe he should have been suspended for such a small incident.

Depends just who he hit with the stink bomb!laugh

Certainly in my day, suspension was a biggie as a punishment sort of the last step before expulsion. But nowadays, I don't suppose they have many alternatives but 2 days off hardly seems like a punishment. A double detention copying 1st Corinthians from the bible would be much harsher.

darren9030: I agree that was very harsh for such a small thing & as you say boys will be boys. That said i firmly believe corporal punishment should return to schools for those who really deserve it ( not your son ). The cane & the slipper i receieved at school did me no harm

Couldn't agree more. In my day kids were afrair of the teachers, nowdays teachers are afraid of the kids!

Godsgift: Jaysus....we used to get the belt! Stink bombs would be a six stretch of the old Lochgelly tawse supplied by a schoolmaster 3 times my size!!.........Ouch!

"Lochgelly tawse" I don't know what that is but I don't like the sound of it!laugh

GG he didnt hit anyone with it,he didnt let it off,he just brought it into school(which he shouldnt have i know) another lad let it off.

I can only appeal it to the BOM if he had got 3 days suspension which of course the school were aware of when suspending him..they wrote to me today and now want a letter of apology from him!!doh

Im refusing to let him write it as he has verbally apologised and done his punishment.

IMO neither should be afraid of each other,in this day and age teachers should be able to communicate with the pupils with respect and vice versa..i feel if there is respect on both sides then these sort of incidents might not happen.

Even the best parents in the world have reared kids that have been in trouble and even jailed..Parents can only do so much, they meet and mix with all sorts and take their lives down a different road...We cant hold their hands forever.

Do you mind me asking have you got kids?teddybear

doh Well i dont think punishments like this teaches honesty is the best policy dunno

What a waste of time i think lines are another waste of time, personally i would think reading a book and writing a synopsis would be time and punishment enough grin

I think for certain children this just plays into their hands, they end up falling behind or quitting school and then the parents are blamed as well doh

I think the school is making an eXample out of your son ..it is a bit harsh but then on the other hand I think kids have to learn that a quick sorry doesnt always cut it.And if kids are suspended I think the parents should pile housework etc on them They wouldnt be as quick to mess about in school again JMO
