optomistic68: What is an anti-semite? and why hasn't Zimbabwe been invaded. We know why Libya was.
Venezuela is far more democratic than America for instance. He was overthrown remember and the ordinary people demanded his return. That is known as people power. Chavez has won eight elections fairly and squarely but it is not liked by America because he caters for ordinary people before rich elites and corporations.

an anti semite is someone who is anti jewish
it all boils down to this
people like to hate america and all it stands for
chavez is an enemy of america
say what ya want the fact is he changed the constitution so he could be re-elected
america is our greatest ally
doesnt anyone remember what happened in 2 world wars
we would be speakin german now only for america
and now look at lybia
i dont see chavez sending in his army to defend the rebels there
hes allways supported tyrants as long as they are opposed to the west

We are owned by Germany the way things stand now and America has a 100 million people who claim to be descendants of German Migrants, so you may as well be dealing with Germans

scriobhneoir: Okay, so we're getting set to invite two imperialists whose armies are in the middle of immoral wars in Iraq and Afghanistan respectively.

So why not invite a genuine democrat like Hugo Chavez? No leader on earth has done more to empower his citizens. People talk about democracy here, but Venezuela is an example of real grassroots democracy in action. Ordinary people have succeeded despite the pressure of a hostile US, and gang of corrupt oligarchs who have already tried one failed coup. So why not invite the bold Hugo? Or does he have to invade somewhere first?

I don't know too much about Chavez but I'm guessing its down to money.

The Irish Government have already said that the visits of both the queen and Obama is likely to boost tourism. Now i doubt the visit of Chavez is going to make the people of Venezuela want to visit Ireland any more than Kenny going to visit Venezuela would make the irish people want to go there. There are a lot of people with irish connections in both the UK and the US. Would there be many people with irish connections in Venezuela? confused

Now i'm not saying that would be the only reason people of other countries would want to visit Ireland but it is one reason. Its a long way from South America to here too though. I'm guessing the airfare isn't cheap.

As i said, i am not too familiar with Chavez and its not important what i think of him, whether he is a dictator or tyrant or not. It does matter though what the US government and the UK governments think of him though and equally important what their respective media think of him.

We already a laughing stock because of our economy and our incompetent bankers. Do we need anymore bad press? doh

In other words, It might benefit Ireland's tourism having the queen and Obama visit but what benefit would Chavez visiting have?

blipper2000: i tell ya when ya think about it if the brits(god bless 'em) hadnt invented radar they would have lost the battle of britain and then an invasion of britain was inevitable
not only would britain have fallen but their empire would have too

Yea and fact to is that Churchill didn't really trust the radar all that much when the Luftwaffe decide to bomb British cities instead of airfields and coastal defences like the radar station Britain would have sued for peace also the japanese were going major foot hold in the pacific because of the collapse of France and Holland which left the island open to invasion by the japense who also signed a treaty with the Vichy french to land forces in that area they were so close that act bombed North Australia in 1942.

Even if he is a commie and i am not even going to get into that but would the commies boost the economy as much as the british or the americans?

We need to keep them onside and i think maybe having Chavez visit could have the opposite effect.

no japan were never going to have a hope of winning, while they had a good navy the lacked quality tanks for any major ground offensive against the u.s, if japan had declared war on russia in 41 then i think germany would have won the war, by not doing that, it meant russia could concentrate fully on the germans

It was actually quoted by admiral Yamamoto after the Pearl harbour attack in 1941 I fear all we have done is awaken a terrible giant and fill him with a terrible resolve. Yamamoto was describing the industrial mite of America because he studied and work there before the war broke out. The Japanese navy never really wanted to declare war on the American it was the Japanese army that persuaded the Emperor to do so.

Anti semite also means anti Arab but it is conveniently used by the Jewish People to mantain the unjust occupation of Palestine.

America have been trying to overthrow Chavez and take control of Venezuelan Oil is it little wonder that he dislikes America.

I am presuming that you are being the devils advocate here so I wont be too strong on you. cheers

P.S Chavez has been selling Home Heating at no profit to poor people in Boston for years....a little known fact.

no if japan had declared war on russia, germany would have beaten the russians in a couple of months, the u.s and britain struggled to beat an already beaten germany if the germans had been able to concentrate fully on them it would have been different

optomistic68: The American People wanted nothing to do with the war. It was the military machine that wanted in for the profit. Peril Harbour was contrived.
