The Christian Church adopted the idea of souls going to heaven or hell upon death from Platonism. The ancient Hebrews had a different view. Body, soul and spirit are different aspects of the person. Soul (ie life) means you are alive. Spirit (ie breath or wind) means you breathe.

I agree that a loving heart is healthier than acts of violence and aggressions. Respect of others and of nature is the way forward. Respecting others for me includes NOT telling them that they have "sinned" not to confess or repent. Each needs to do their personal and healing work how it suits them rather than how I think they should do it.

Souls going to heaven or hell upon death, virgin birth, a god-man Christ, trinity, original sin, etc were all adopted from these.
