I though I share this with you, I read in an article that lead in lipstick can kill you and that you can test for it by rubbing a gold ring.
Back in the day, many high born Egyptian women and men went mad and died. Why? Because they succumbed to the mercury and lead in their make up. It was fairly sad, but then again, their civilization existed around 3500 BCE and largely involved pushing big rocks around. We can forgive them for not being knowledgeable about the effects of the ingredients in their make up on their health. but what about now?

Yeah!!! Was still happening in Roman times ...
Shouldn't underestimate some of the ancient civilasations though ... they might not have known that lead and mercury was poisonous for the body but some of them invented the used water evacuation systems in the cities apart from anything else ...
Lead was still being used till recently in household paint and any kind of paint including to paint kid's toys. Drugs that caused malformation of babies have also been introduced during pregnancy, not so long ago, without proper testing for side effects . Mercury is still used for mouth filling.
How much more advanced are we exactely? Not very!!! Why? Because money talks rather than safety and caring for human kind. IMO
