Anything that stretches your limits can build up your confidence I think but there are some people in this world; doctors, nurses, policemen, soldiers, prison officers etc, who take up the job to give themselves a sense of identity unbeknown to themselves. You're a nurse 24/7. It doesn't stop at 5pm!
Their psyche never develops and they live to a strict self imposed set of rules as to how a person with that identity should behave. It's that rigidity which is usually their downfall in human relationships.

Definitley for me I'm in my job nearly 4 years i had just gone 18 when i got it and i was so quiet and shy when i started it first, and in those 4 years i've lost 2 stone and am now probably the most social person in the place Everyone tells me it's like a whole new person But I think had I went to a job that I diddn't enjoy and worked with people I didn't like, I wouldn't have the confidence that I have now :)

Most definately it helped develop me as a person, I think most people would feel more confident when working, Unemployment can destroy your confidence make you feel worthless especially if you are used to working hard then there are those who have no interest in work and are happy to sit on the dole, I could never understand how a person could be happily unemployed
