Yes we may have come across diffrant names for some of the things we know.
Like in QLD they call patato cakes patato scollops.
Coktail frankferts savloys.
Nikko is a permanate marker.
So what others have you came across?

I remember growing up in Vic and you could always get the pickled onions in jars at the fish and chips shops. I love a good pickled onion. NSW and QLD dont do that.



And in NSW its rare as hens teeth to be able to find a good stick of Kabana they have cabanossi. But QLD are into Kabana too which is good.


NSW doesn't really sell flake either they have Hake.


Flake is my favorite fish, big in VIC and QLD.


I know that not really different names, but just different comparisons Ive come across.

at school we used to blow up the popper boxes and jump on them to make them go off with a bang, it used to scare the crap out of everyone. laugh I have never seen a kid do that down here.

Pies differ greatly. I miss pies with peas from QLD. No peas with pies down here. Then you have the pie floater in SA.

Cream buns and cream horns, we used to get them in QLD, never see them here. I never used to be a huge fan but my sister (not Larf) misses the cream buns.

My mum still calls the kids schoolbags their ports and when she says it they just look at her stupid, what are you talking about, Nan?? laugh

Yeah, I have no idea what is what when it comes to beer sizes. laugh I know what a pint is, that is about it. laugh I think a pint is universal isn't it?

And in Tassie (well, the north) it is a fruit box.

There is the old swimmers/bathers/cozzies one.

In Vic the word castle rhymes with hassle, in NSW it's caR-stle.

ohhh yeah I forgot about the togs. laugh can't remember which state calls them togs, I think it was QLD. confused

Oh yeah. I call those shoes trainers, but that might be a UK thing, not sure its Aussie at all...

Down here, they call reverse cycle air-cons "heat pumps"- I guess they just get used for heating in winter laugh

Not sure about that, my Dad was Victorian born and bred and he would always say grab your Togs.
