delamer: My Dad knows a guy that had to do exactly that in order to stop a 'hunt' passing thru his field. He dug up a dozen holes and told one of the organisers that the entire field was being surveyed and had similar holes throughout.

Im starting my final year of college in September and we practicly being told we wont have a job at the end of , now granted it's animation its not known for having a steady job but all im hearing is talk of china this china that of some people im 28 i went to back to college when i was 24 because i wasnt happy doing what i was doing at the time and im fairly good at what i do now but the thought of having to go to china to earn a living or India id rather be unemployed than live a police state. But hopefully il be good enough to get picked up by a studio some where but right now things dont look good a friend of mine is moving to china for work in a few weeks. my other friend couldnt find a job and was on the dole for ages and was so hard up for the money he took a job counting stock in stores around the country after he spent a few years getting his degree.

MarsMan: That is the one main drawback of democracy.....POLITICS!
I had little faith in the political parties ability or sincerity during the last election, but I still voted, not for the ones I considered the best, but the ones I considered the least worst.
And that took me a good while to decide, because I considered them all to be truly awful.

The FG/Labour coalition are quite frankly little better than the last lot, full of false promises, full of ideological rhetoric, but very very short on any actual ideas and the political will to follow them through. As for their programs to reform the political system, they are nothing but a PR stunt, abolishing the Seanead will only hand total executive power to the Dail, and it is the Dail that has proven time and time again that they incapable of discharging the powers they have, let alone any new ones.

It has now come to the stage where even high court Judges are criticizing the length of time investigations are taking into corruption and corporate mismanagement that caused all this mess.
As for actual jail time, I won't hold your breath on that one, if it ever gets to court, it will be a long, complex and protracted case, in which everybody will blame everybody else, and if everybody is to blame, then no-one will take the blame, or the punishment.

It will take at least a decade for the country to recover from the abysmal mismanagement of the countries economy.

This may seem a pretty dismal picture of the countries affairs, but there is one set of people who will drag us out of this mess, and that is US, our hard work and our innovations will turn it around, but I guarantee our political masters will have no problem in taking all the credit for it.

thumbs up

biggles90000: yes but where are these jobs i dont see any new jobs been created yet or none of this special training that there were supposed to be offering people on the dole to get them back to work.

Apparently looking for a job with advice from FAS makes someone 17% less likely to get a job than someone who gets off their own back to look for work without advice from state employment agencies, this jobs initiative is an absolute joke by the new government, the government should be creating proper conditions for private enterprise to create jobs.

1)Let the Irish banks go bust, they are uselss and morally and financially bankrupt.
2) Let foreign banks take over in Ireland and let the senior management be foreign, Irish people are too corrupt to be allowed run banks.
3) That would mean credit would flow back into the Irish economy meaning new jobs can be created.
4) Also as a country we are living well beyond our means in terms of public sector pay and social welfare. Unless these areas are cut drastically we will not receive a sympathetic hearing off the French or the Germans.

id agree with cutting the dole to get ppl working again...but i dont see how it would work if were loseing more jobs than gaining?

i think we should concentrate on trying to bring in more jobs then maybe cut the hole to get more people working.

however i think the benefits should remain untouched to the people who are trying to seek a qualifaction in college and fetac

the dole has to be cut roght across the board, there is an €18 billion deficit which doesn't include the banks bailout, sure emigration seems to be the best way to get the unemployment figures down.
