Is anybody here a member?

I wonder how much work you could actually get by joining... I hear you can get €70 - €120 per day (depending on the production).

There's an awful lot of sitting around involved so the €120 can equate to 12-14 hours. You need to be there from early morning till late at night and you can be bused out to the middle of nowhere for the day, all for a 3 second shot of your hands in cuffs or a blurred image of you talking to someone in the background of a wedding or a funeral.

And there aren't many extras who end up becoming stars I'm afraid! The contract assures that it's a one off payment with no repeat fees and you can be months between calls. So I'm afraid it's not as exiting as it sounds.sigh

I did it with a few friends for a few months. I wouldn't rely on it for income as a job. Its fun but not overly profitable. Do it for the entertainment value rather than anything else. As was already said, its a set amount for a long day and often times you are bused out to 10 miles past the middle of no where. None of us ever made the Hollywood scene due to any participation! haha Background filler is probably the higest form of star you'll become. But all of that said, it is a laugh and a bit of fun for a day or whatever. But I think in the 6 months we were registered with them, I got 2 calls : one commercial, really cheaply paid and tediously boring and one tv show for a series (George Gently) that was less boring and handy enough about 2 mins walk from my apartment so that one was a lot better.

Sure do it for the laugh - why not. Oh, and before you do. I want your autograph so I can say I knew you before you were famous in case you do make it big! laugh laugh

I wouldn't have the talent to go any further than a backround face. It does sound like good craic though.

I have done it too. 70 a day could be from 9am to 4pm or later - believe me I know! Lots of sitting around in the cold too. But as long as you aren't relying on it for income then it can be a good laugh.

I had a couple of mates that got into Braveheart because they had long hair at the time. I had hair too but I missed out because I was in Engerland visiting family...

I understand that the second 'Game of Thrones' season starts filming up north shortly...
