Godsgift: Perhaps some of us have personal experience with ourselves or our families which means we aren't just voicing opinions. I do honestly hope that it doesn't come to your own door. You have absolutely no idea.
snowlynx: Have to say I think he has a point. Of course it is tragic and I guess Amy had her demons but she also had more advantages than most. I just wouldn't want to see her turned into another Lady Di phenomenon, with everyone losing the run of themselves.
I don't actually think Di was as much as a poor wee soul as she made out either to be honest. I'm not saying we should treat Ami Winehouse as some poor forlorn victim but I would regard myself as a poor specimen of a human being if I didn't see the tragedy of someone dying so young. It could my own wee niece tomorrow.

At the end of the day, its a human being we are talking about. It wouldn't matter to me if it was a junkie who died alone in a flat in Ireland or a millionaire pop singer. I wouldn't judge either and i certainly wouldnt criticize and ridicule them or their memory. Everyone is someone's son, daughter, niece, nephew, uncle, aunt, father or mother. All i am saying is if people can't respect another human being because of the way he or she may or may not have died then they should at least show respect and compassion for their family.
Im actually shocked that some are you are arguing about what she did or didnt do right or wrong. The girl is 27 years old and has lost her life. Tonight there is a mum and dad who's life has also fallen apart.

I am a realist, addicts exist across society, regardless of their economic circumstances. I have less sympathy for the so called "celebritys" with addiction problems, than I have for the man in the street.
