Was just chatting to a friend of mine who i've not spoken to in a few weeks.

She started to tell me that she's dating this 'great guy' and as any woman response would be was 'TELL ME EVERYTHING'
Sounded like a great guy untill I asked her had he any kids, 'Yea but doesnt have anything to do with her (one daughter)' app its to much hassle and he didn't get on with his ex (the childs mum).

Even though im thrilled for her that she seems so happy but it just doesn't sit well with me.

And I know its non of my business but just curious what others think conversing

That would also bother me Bellax. There'd be many ways of looking at it,is he capable of disconnecting emotionally very easily....would he do same if there were children in a future relationship.....why should his daughter suffer because he didnt get on with ex..and many other questions. There are many things that speak louder than words and this is one of them JMO.

your only hearing 1 side of the story, have you spoken to him at all about it? Not that it would be any of your business anyway and he would probably tell you this himself, The mother of his child could have a barring order against him and we all know how easy it is for women to get barring orders against ex partners, if he attempted to see his child he could be thrown in jail, there are a host of different reasons, you should give him a chance not that your opinion of him matters in the first place anywaytongue

I agree with you,It wouldnt sit easy with me either, I think there is nothing as nice as seeing a dad with his kids and knowing he would do anything for them

At the same time you cant judge a person when you dont really know the ins and outs of his situation even tho its hard to justify a situation where a dad dosent want to see his childdunno jmo

The man has to get on with his life regardless of how many children he has, He has to disconnect emotionally or else he could torture himself for years about what may or may not have been, his ex could be a total wagon you dont know the ins and out of it all

wave Hi Biggles

Oh I know some mothers use kids as a weapon against dads and I think its disgusting. I will take my hat off to any single dad that wants and does see his kids. Those dads are not what Im talking about.

My childs dad has not seen him since he was 6 months old. He is now a teenager. Not from the want of me trying to arrange days out for them etc fathers day cards, birthday cards xmas cards etc.

Im talking about these type.

I totally agree Biggles, many women are so evil, vindictive and so set on getting back at their ex that they will use the children to any lengths, and this mostly comes from women. No matter what children shouldnt be used as weapons in breakups.

There are dead beat dads (and im sure dead beat mums)

Im not talking about Mums and Dads fighting over their kids or going through courts etc. for access or rights

Im talking about a father who walks away never to be seen again.

BellaX: Would you date a dead beat dad?

Personally no I wouldn't. I think it's the whole gay love thing that would put me off most.

It doesn't sound like your friend has a lot of the facts yet. The dude is right, there may be two sides to this but is she only going to hear only one or is there an impartial witness that could fill her in? There are probably a lot more dangerous people out there than the dead beat dads, irresponsible and all as they are, so make caution/paranoia your friend.

It also depends on what she wants and if she intends to become emotionally dependent on him. And lets face it, even if he was a great dad does she really want to be emotionally or financially dependent on anybody if she can avoid it. Otherwise she should stay sharp and watch her back.

laugh I'll try again.

Would you date a dead beat dad.

dead beat dad = a man who fathers a child and walks away at any stage of the childs life of his own accord. He has nothing to do with his child/children by his choice.
