The 92-year-old petite,well poised and proud lady,who is fully dressed each morning by 8am, with her hair fashionally coifed and make up perfectly applied, even though she was legally blind, moved to a nursing home today.
Her husband of 70 years passed away recently, making the move necessary.
After many hours of waiting patiently in the lobby of the nursing home, she smiled sweetly when I told her room was ready. As she maneuvered her walker to the elevator I provided a visual description of her tiny room.
"I love it" she stated with the ethusiasm of an 8-year-old having just been presented a new puppy.
"You haven't seen the room, Mrs. Jones...just wait"
"That doesn't have anything to do with it" she replied"Happiness is something you decide on ahead of time. Wether I like my room or not, doesn't depend on how the furniture is arranged but on how I arrange my mind. I already decide to love it. It's a decision I make everymorning when I wake up. I have a choice, I can spend the day in bed recounting my difficult I have with parts of my body that no longer work or get out of bed be thankful for the ones that do. Each day is a gift, and as long as I open my eyes I focus on the new day and the happiness I stored away....just for this time in my life"
The above is an article I listened on a website for English learners. very nice one, share with you....
while i basically agree with the statement that "hapiness is an attitude", i'd like, however, to mention the novel that Voltaire wrote in the XVIII century which is a wise and funny criticism of the everlasting optimism (it is entitled "Candid, or All for The Best" or "Candid, or The Optimism") where the most horrendous disadventures (wars, deseases, erthquake)happen to the young and optimistic hero Candid that reiterates that "all is for the best"...
this is to say that being happy is not merely an attitude but it is, also, heavily conditioned by the external environment as well
it is the right mix of the individual's ability and the external conditions that leads to hapiness and they cannot be separated...both are necessary and one of them is not enough...

This is a short quote that I discoverd a couple of years ago, written By Deborah Price: (I'm not trying to be Religious here}
Pray for employment, money, financial healing and more. Use these tips to help yourself and others through the financial crisis and beyond.
I am a big believer in the power of prayer and with all that is happening in the world around us, I invite you to join me in praying for prosperity and well-being.
To pray powerfully you must commit to a daily, heartfelt prayer practice, and be willing to pray alone, for others, with others, and even for strangers. The world desperately needs all of our prayers, now more than ever. With the constant, incessant roar of our collective prayers, we can all help heal the world and this country in this time of great need.
Pray every day upon rising and before going to bed.
Pray For Guidance
Ask for guidance on how you can be of service to your family and community.
Pray For Help
Pray for help and relief to those who are in financial struggle; food for the hungry; shelter for those without homes.
