yea.. still is... not as much as say 10 years ago, but there's still a certain taboo about online dating... why you think so many people have no profile pics??

Perhaps its just not 'natural', give it another 100 years or so and it'll be accepted and possibly the norm.
Ok, I know people will say 'its no different that meeting someone in a bar' but I think it is very different and un-natural, I guess as humans we work on physical contact, give off messages, interact with others on a human basis that we are drawn too, interested in, feel threatened by etc etc. Internet, well, anyone can be anyone, thus I'd imagine why so many are nervous of it and untrusting.

but it not like you would normally have a full blown relationship all online and never meet lol, your inital contact is online but then you meet up, just as you would in a bar etc, thats what I would tell people anyways

I totally disagree. I find if I meet a man in a bar he's generally "had a few" and is definitely not himself. I much prefer on-line dating. Of course there are game players etc but just as many as in the pub. This way you get a chance to meet a man, chat a little, get to know him and then decide. I've found that most men are more "themselves" on line. Unfortunately, the down side can be that when you do meet up they can often become shy and it takes more patience to get them to relax...
I think there is still a misconception about internet dating;
It is that someone who has to go online to meet somebody is a bit desperate if they can't/don't meet people the "normal" way like everyone else. I found that the older generation inparticular feel that way ie parents maybe or older family. JMO
