i will put my cards on the table.. people who talk about good food ,nice restaurant or a nice glass of wine get up my nose...pure and simple snobbery...as a person who has as much experience of eating drinking and "ambience" as anyone, explain to me is a ten euro meal better or worse than 30 euro meal and similarly with wine

ya see thats it..i hear people talking about good food etc,but a lot of the time they are telling you what they can afford ...similarly i am sure a bus driver / taxi driver has similar issues relating to roads

You have lost me Buster.

I think most people know what they like and know what they are willing to pay for it. I don't think thats being snobby.
What one persons value of something may differ to anothers and the demand tends to dictate pricing.

a "good" meal/a "nice" glass of wine is subjective and can often be dependant on your mood on the day and how hungry you may be but when someone says something like that it should be based on fact rather than anything else. for instance..would you go out and buy the same bottle of wine again

you see thats right.. so it is a good wine..as opposed to the one you had that was good but fogotten when you left the restaurant bar etc similarly with food was it "fine dining" or"just nice" at least the comments should be backed up by your actions after..fine dining should be what it says on the tin and not just a meal that was nice

Eating Out...

To what end?...A tasty bite in a burger joint when your hungry is every bit as good as a dinner for two when your out with someone in the evening...
Wine in restaurants is way overpriced, I would look for good service and a short order menue...price on food is of no consiquence to me, good food, well prepared and served is worth its money...I would add, im no fan of restaurants that allow kids in after eight in the evening, i know that will rankle a few, but Im not into the noise and disruption of what should be a comfortable experience...
Finally, Wine...Its a personal taste thing, I happen to like South African and Australian wines, the off licence is going to be my port of call for these drinks of choice, I doubt my indian restaurant will have McGuiggans GTR on tap...
