Can we ever truly travel enough? It seems we have an infinite list of places to see... and so little time allocated for it. This 'death to us part' bit has a lot to answer for. laugh

There are places I have seen that I would return to and places yet to explore. I like to start each year with a few wishes, not exactly a New Years Resolution, but very much in that vein.

As many of you will be aware World Rugby Cup is playing in New Zealand... I was somewhat disappointed to hear this. As it's going to drive the cost of rental cars and accommodation up. I am allocated Leave each year as I work in an essential service, so it's not like I have a choice of when I shall do things. Simply I have the choice to make the best of what I do with my time off.

This morning I woke up, thought what the hell, why should I let a few men that are over run with testosterone ruin a trip away. rolling on the floor laughing So I have just booked a trip to New Zealand next week. I am terribly excited as you can obviously tell. boogie

You're absolutely right. I don't think you can ever travel enough. I have been to 34 different countries but 32 of those are in Europe so need to branch out a bit more.

Enjoy the rugby wine

Hello Darren,

What I would give to see the things you have seen! I can imagine your 'rocking chair' moments, reflecting where you have been in life will be captivating.

As for the rugby...I don't like it! I will avoid it.

Hiya wave

People say that about countries i have been to but i would love to see South America or some parts of Asia. Guess i should be grateful for the places i have seen. Will be adding another country to the list in november as visiting macedonia for the first time.

I agree about the rugby by the way - almost as boring as cricket yawn

There's almost another place on the list, Darren. May I ask what the drawing card is in Macedonia?

I have a trip booked for March, I am off to Thailand with the girls for a week... AND I get to see the elephants!

Cricket? Wasn't that a sport born in the UK? You can only blame yourselves for that one!

Flight prices are the main draw really. Have got a return flight from London for £30. Flights can be really cheap from the UK sometimes.

Have considered Thailand & indeed did so for this year but decided to stay more local & go Czech republic, Poland & Macedonia.

Yes, it's an English game but more of a football & golf fan myself laugh

Your flight prices are exceptional. How is it that you get so much time to travel? Not that I am envious...I just thought I might put an application in for YOUR job. Who knows... liar I might be better than you at it.

I am fan of Golf too... the car, that is. laugh

And football would be...soccer?

Hiya wave

Sorry bed got in the way of my reply giggle

Work long shifts which gives more days off so find it easy to get away for 4 or 5 days at a time several times of the year. Not one for staying at the 'ritz', equally happy with 2 or 3 star hotels or b&b's so thet keeps the cost down & also not a person to spend a fortune at a posh restaurant when a pizza or something similar will do the job wink

I guess all that = loads of trips & not loads of £/$'s spent yay

Yes to soccer. Have also been to some countries simply to watch a soccer match or golf tournament super

I understand that drive that forces us to slumber. A shift worker? Hmmm... Do tell... or wait, don't. I am curious, but if you wanted to divulge what you do, I am sure you would.

I am staying in a resort in Thailand, a five star, but that was the girl's choice. And er... I have booked a five star for a few days in New Zealand...but the pillows are sooooooooo much better in them.

I am usually happy with something average too, although by choice, the night I fly in... I like good pillows.

I haven't been inspired to go to sporting venues, however... I am told that one day I simply must to experience the atmosphere.

I love to travel, and yes we never seem to get enough time to see all the places we want to.
I was lucky to have lived in South Africa for 21 years so got to see qyuite a few of the neighbouring states - Kenya, Mozambigue, Botswana, Swaziland etc.
I have seen quite a bit of Europe - Spain, France, Belgium, Cyprus, Turkey - and this summer went on my first visit to the Greek Islands (on my wish list for a long time)

So many Greek Islands to visit - it will take me years to see them all.

USA, Austrailia, NZ, all still to do - so maybe when the kids have flown the coop I will just pack a bag and go travelling to my hearts content :)

As for your trip to NZ, sure lots of us ladies would love to go, especially at the time of the Rugby - must admit I am a fan - but hey, think of all the guys you may meet up with! Maybe Mr Right somewhwere there? You never kbnow.

Have a wonderful, relaxing time and happy travelling cheers

Dolphin... I really want to see Europe. I was hoping to head there next year, I just need a traveling companion.

As for rugby ... you can have the rugby and the players... laugh They are not my forte.

I think that places you have seen sound brilliant.
