Just got word i can go to college for the next 4 years to do a degree in mechanical and renewable energy engineering. Im 25 and a qualified plumber and of course im out of work :( what would ye do?? go to make some money and have a great time in Australia or New Zealand or go to college and find it hard to even live??

Its a no brainer go to Australia or New Zealand if you have work lined up here. My neighbour is going to NZ he is a plasterer. There will be nothing here for years to come.

Theres a few years work in New Zealand rebuilding after the earthquakes and they re actively recruiting Irish cos of experience gained during the boom. Good way to ride out some of this slump and you might be lucky and get an evening course down under

who knows what work is going to be out there when u finish college
at least if u went travelling,u can say u got to experience it...college is always going to be there if u ever decided to come back but most people i know that have left,are gone for good

ur still young hun,if i were u i would b gone,der is nothing here in ireland anymore and its getting realy bad,im out of work since feb this year and im finding it very hard to get work,im thinking of going to england and its not gr8 over der either but i may have sum chance to get sumtin,u may never get the chance to c another country again so if i were u i would go hun,the best of luck to u with whatever choice u make....

I left home in '77 and couldn't and wouldn't be told to stay on at university. I was impatient and regret now not having the certification. Stick with the studying I'd say. The fun and rewards will come later.

Yers that true my cousin is living over there she ended up haven to do 2 Cvs tho but eventually got a job but not in her chosen field but still does competitions and stuff from her chosen field so not too bad !!
