JMO as the mother of 3 teenage boys, things are different, kids are driven everywhere, for safety reasons, and a lot more activity is spent in front of tv and games than outdoors, its a lot more difficult than when i was a teenager, as the tv games thing was not an option

I have 2 boys that are very active with football, golf, boxing and they are fine but one that does carry excess weight even though the other 2 eat just as much as him

ye, you have hit the nail on its head, its activity and excercise.. also some people are born with a high metabolism and burn fat easily.. but IMO i deffo think diet and activity in the young needs to happen more

Its something I've noticed myself recently whilst driving past a secondary school at leaving time...The amount of overweight teenagers I saw was eye opening...when I was in school only 10 years back there would be a few fattys which would nearly be acceptable because you will always have some people who will eat unhealthy anyway but this is a bulging concern..these are teenagers anyway so they should be able to make their own decisions regarding what they eat but a young child has no excuse being obese...the problem there is the parents overfeeding their child..they are to blame killing their child with greasy food..shame on themireland

Its down to lack of exercise and eating the wrong food. I know cos i was fat as a kid. I changed my eating habits and started exercising when i was 15 and lost the weight. A lot of kids these days are too lazy to exercise.
