I assume you're counting spaces and punctuation as well. I didn't know about the limit, and don't really know what to answer here.

Somehow you had to have over 4,000 characters in what you were typing and CS advised you about the limit.
Then you need to edit what you typed and try to send it again. Make sure you edit it in the comment section and not the Preview section.
Something I learned the hard way.....if you are typing something long, type it in another program such as WORD. In the TOOLS drop down menu there is an option to count how many words and spaces you typed.
Once you have what you want, copy it and paste it into the CS comment.

Excellent advice, Montecito. I can't count how many times my clumsy fingers have hit the wrong key after a long post and have seen the post disappear! Grrrrrr...

Its when you try and quote a long post. It counts those characters as well. Best thing to do is post the quote you are posting to, and then post your own separately. Hope that helps.
