So I was thinking about what screws things up, and I got the brilliant idea of having a mute date laugh

It goes like this; you meet a person, (s)he is to your liking when it comes to appearance, body attitude and such, but it was not allowed to speak, a(I'm not really sure if one should think to much either), just sense, and be aware.

What do you think would happen?

I would think there are other ways of communicating rather than just vocally.
Body language is way more importantgrin

This could be practiced only by young people. Over 50s have nothing nice except their wisdom and experience, and it cannot be expressed by the body language. Me thinks....grin

Yeah definitely,

those who study body language claim only 15% of the communication is done verbally. Then if you take it a step further and think that it means everything, and about the communication skills of people, and their choice of what to communicate, you can see where I'm getting at :)

So, if you return to the awareness, emptiness of choice, just sensing and feeling - seems to me a better way to connect, and a way to connect that was free of misunderstandings, mistakes in projections and so on.

Now I just need to figure out how to make this go live - I doubt anyone would fall for "hey girl, I want to get to know you, but you have to shut up"

laugh

You mean those over 52, right?

What was the name of this famous person who is over 70 and look like she is 40?

Might be a good idea to conduct the experiment with someone of your own culture because there are certain elements of body language that mean/are perceived as meaning something different in different cultures.

Sounds like an interesting idea ...

Not sure how successful it would be because some people are so used to projecting their own stuff onto others that even with only body language they would still be "reading" according to their projection.

dunno

Yeah, wouldn't those be the ones you fall for and get hurt or let down from. Not limited to verbal communication this.

So it would perhaps be with a mutual longing for honesty, both in oneself and the other?

We were talking about this yesterday at work.
My client that is deaf said people think they don't know what is going on around them and said the body language was loud.
I took a quick, meek, stance and asked if mine was aggressive and then we both laughed.

Well, it also shows the point - you can be a excellent reader of peoples attitude, but also intentions, and that must be clear.

Intention? intelligently and compassionately seeking for the partners ultimate point of sensation? Sounds like hard word until you realize that it is a mutual devotional act.
