Wouldn't it be just great if The Saw Doctors make it to Christmas Number 1!! They are just a brilliant band that every person in Ireland recognises when they hear classics such as N17 and I Useta Love Her. It would be great to see them beating whatever The X Factor song will be and to prove that over 20 years of brilliant gigs and raw talent suceeds against some crap that is produced to make quick millions and take advantage of the winners 15 minutes of fame!!

I was never a fan...I just never got them at all..I think there is a country / Dublin divide when it comes to certain bands and performers. The Saw Doctors were definitely one....aNOTHER IS Pat Short and the D'unbelieveables.....Most people I know dont get that sort of humour either....But each to their own, different strokes and all that.

dunno bout that..my mothers a dub from a long line of them .. n loves d'unbelievables..think it depends on the sense of humour ..saying that my mother moved to the country n loves it..not for financial reasons or a bigger gaff...cos she likes the pace n peeps..but then not all dubs are the same either..

SundanceWCork: You are totally right. That's why it was only old priests who watched the stupid programme about the three idiot priests living in the country. I forget what it was called?
What has Father Ted got to do with Pat Short or Killnaskully???? Graham Linehan was the real force behind that and he is from Dublin...I dont see you point???
Linehan also went on to do Black Books, Big Train, IT Crowd as well as write sketches for Little Britan. The other writer Arthur Matthews hasn't really had the same success since. He is from Meath...lol
Its very interesting you find that fact I think both culchies and Dubs have different senses of humour as an insult though. Says more about you than me really.

It certainly does, considering I come from Dublin.

People from around the world have different senses of humour and people from different parts of a country can have different senses of humour.
There are things that are iniversally funny but most humour is colloquial. And living in Dublin every day I find that Dubs and Culchies dont always find the same things funny.
And the vast majority of Dubs I know dont get Pat Short or D'Unbelieveables but culchies seem to love them.
Just an observastion but if you want to get your knickers in a twist over it go right ahead.
SundanceWCork: Maybe you need to get out more and see a bit of the world. You know what they say about travel.
Is moving to Cork travelling??
I am happy in Dublin...Good job, nice apartment.....why would i leave?
Oh right to braoden my mind and horizons?? I do that on hols....But i hope you are enjoying the exocitc lifestyle in Cork...it must be so different from Dublin.
