A rad key is a square shaped internal socket about 5-6mm square. Some newer rads have a dual type of valve where you can use a standard screwdriver or the square rad key. I personally do not like using the screwdriver because the stem of the valve might break. You get better purchase (grip) with the rad key. Just have plenty of old towels to hand to catch the water. To open the valve remember to turn it anti-clockwise.thumbs up

That's the thing, every girls valves iz different, innit. You may not need a plumber but you defintely need a handy man. If they stick out, like yours do, you can use the things like you said or you can get a handyman with the right tool to just ease it open and release the pressure for you. It probably won't be a flood but you may find it leaking just a little.

There's different shaped bleed keys for different rads, you'd need a set really, unless you take a pic of the bleed valve to the hardware store with you.

Probably alot cheaper to get a mate to do it for you. . how many films start that way?!wow

Put a mirror behind the rad and light the valve, then photograph the reflection. That's how customs look under cars and how Graham Norton checks his hemorrhoids.
