Are there any Mechanics on this site or anyone that has had trouble with a Nissan X-Trail?
I seem to have had a run of trouble with mine in the last few days, engine stalling when I go to change down gears, tonight I had no power in the engine whatsoever 0 to 60 took about 15 min, full headlights are gone now as well. I dont seem to be able to get any satisfaction from any of the garages that I've taken it to they all seem to be only able to have a guess at whats wrong. No fault codes showing up of coursefrustrated frustrated frustrated

HELP

I'M not a mechanic but it sounds very similar to what happened my car at the start of the year it took 6 months for my mechanic to figure out it was a problem with the battery, just throwing that out there as something you could look atdunno

Could be just a coincedence with the lightsdunno It's not long serviced, no black smoke, injectors seem to be ok as does heater plugs

why i asked about the black smoke as the egr acts that bollix can cause power loss and big black smoke if its bollixed , but my hunch is seen as the lights are gone it could be your ecu, try a breaker yard you could be lucky,as about the progamming it you can bypass that if you know how, there is ways around everything

DrBob: If the piston rings were gone there'd be a cloud of smoke(blue) out the exhaust constantly and would need constant top up of engine oil but it hasn't dropped on the dip at all

deffo not that then..is it showing any code faults when rigged up?

Off to MacBride in the morn so. Any way of checking ECU or will it only show up as a fault code?

i think there is a light for it on the dash , it can show up on diagnostics most of the time you can check for errors on it
