Be understanding to your perceived enemies. Be loyal to your friends. Be strong enough to face the world each day. Be weak enough to know you cannot do everything alone. Be generous to those who need your help.
Be teachable to show maturity. Be wise enough to know that you do not know everything. Be foolish enough to believe in miracles. Be willing to share your joys. Be willing to share the sorrows of others.
Be a leader when you see a path others have missed. Be a follower when you are surrounded by the mists of uncertainty. Be first to congratulate an opponent who succeeds. Be last to criticize a colleague who fails. Be sure where your next step will fall, so that you will not tumble.
Be sure of your final destination, in case you are going the wrong way. Be willing to change your negative attitude Be loving to those who love you. Be loving to those who do not love you; they may change. Above all, be yourself.

"Be sure of your final destination, in case you are going the wrong way."
I disagree with this one, HL.
I think we often are so focussed on the destination, we dismiss possibilities without really looking. We focus on the end result, ie. the golden, rosy partnership and assess with little information whether people will fit into our grand design.
We forget that we live and learn with all our friendships whether they are lasting, or brief.
We forget to just enjoy the journey wherever it takes us.

I agree with your statement jac, very well put!
The opinion to this depends on how you viewed the statement, doesn't it? jac enlightens us with her view according to her perception of the statement. I like it!
As a truck driver for 25 years, the statement,"Be sure of your final destination, in case you are going the wrong way," had a different meaning to me.
Some may perceive the statement Spiritually, in which case, another viewpoint would be observed.
I really enjoy us sharing together in the forums! We gain the opportunity of insight from different perspectives!

Ok, I get the truck driver one, but unless we're talking totally practically here, I still think enjoying the journey holds.
Even from a spritual point of view is anyone clear of their destination? Does one's spirituality not evolve over time?

Oh yes, jac! Enjoying the journey is what it's all about! Enjoy the Ride!
And as for your last statement..."Does one's spirituality not evolve over time?" ABSOLUTELY!!! I Love that concept!!! That is exactly what happens. Some refer to it as "spiritual growth".

Yes once again I am forced to be in concord with you, our destination is death, so it is better to enjoy and make the most of our journey. After that who knows, but I think it will be a different type of journey, unlike anything we can imagine. Even if there is just nothingness we will arrive at the end of eternity in the twinkling of an eye.
